Salat al-Tibbiyya Arabic صلاة الطبية; The Prayer of Medicine or Salat al-Tibb al-Quloob Arabic صلاة طب القلوب; The Prayer of the Medicine of Hearts is a prayer of inward and outward healing. It was composed by the prominent Egyptian scholar Shaykh Ahmed al-Dardir d. 1204 AH/1786. It is commonly known as Durood-e-Shifa al-Quloob in South Asia and Sholawat Tibbil Qulub in Far East Asia. Reciting this prayer is known to cure spiritual and physical illness by the permission of Allah the Exalted. Arabic, Transliteration and Translation اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ طِبِّ الْقُلُوبِ وَدَوَائِهَا ❁ وَعَافِيَةِ الْأَبدَانِ وَشِفَائِهَا ❁ وَنُورِ الْأَبصَارِ وَضِيَائِهَا ❁ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلِّمْ Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin ṭibbi l-qulūbi wa dawā’iha, wa ʿāfiyati l-abdāni wa shifā’iha, wa nūri l-abṣāri wa ḍiyā’iha, wa ʿalā ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi wa sallim. O Allah, send prayers and peace upon our Master Muhammad, the medicine of hearts and their treatment, the soundness of bodies and their cure, the light of vision and its illumination, and [send blessings] upon his family and his Companions. O Allah, send prayers, peace and blessings upon our Master Muhammad, the medicine of hearts and their treatment, the soundness of bodies and their cure, the light of vision and its illumination, the spirit of all spirits and the secret of their endurance. PDF Salat al-Tibbiyya Benefits This prayer should be read 2,000 times for any illness. It is also mentioned that it can be read 400 times. By the permission of Allah, the illness will be cured. Salat al-Tibbiyya is known to cure eye disorders and diseases. For this reason, this prayer is also referred to as Salat Nur al-Absar Arabic صلاة نور الأبصار; The Prayer of the Light of Vision. Habib Ahmad bin Hasan al-Attas d. 1334 AH/1916 CE, a saintly scholar from Harida, Yemen, writes the following about this prayer in his works A visually impaired man complained to my master, may Allah be pleased with him, so he wiped over his eyes and ordered him to recite Salat Nur al-Absar [Salat al-Tibbiyya] in abundance. Habib Muhammad bin Zayn Ba Aboud informed me that he [the man] said “I took my eye complaint to Habib Saleh bin Abdullah al-Attas who wiped over my eyes and said, Recite 300 salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ every day with the following formula Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin ṭibbi l-qulūbi wa dawā’iha, wa ʿāfiyati l-abdāni wa shifā’iha, wa qūti l-arwāḥi wa ghadha’iha, wa nūri l-abṣāri wa ḍiyā’iha, wa ʿalā ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi wa sallim.’ He said, my vision returned to its former state.’” Shaykh Moulay Ahmad bin al-Ma’mun al-Balghithi d. 1348 AH/1929 CE, may Allah have mercy on him, a saintly Maliki scholar from Fes, Morocco said Our Shaykh Sidi Abu al-Abbas Ahmad bin al-Arabi bin Umar al-Meknasi gave me permission to recite this prayer. He said It should be recited 315 times to avert heart disease.’ When I took it, I asked him Is it meant for physical heart disease or for the spiritual heart?’ He told me It applies to all.’ Our Shaykh Abu Abdullah Junoun, may Allah have mercy on him, mentioned in tʿaleeqah ʿala al-muwatta that it [recital of the prayer] averts the plague. His Eminence Dr. Shaykh Wahbah al-Zuhaili d. 1436 AH/2015 CE, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked “Does prayer on the Prophet ﷺ help to heal, God willing?” The Shaykh said Allāhumma ṣalli ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin ṭibbi l-qulūbi wa dawā’iha, wa ʿāfiyati l-abdāni wa shifā’iha, wa nūri l-abṣāri wa ḍiyā’iha, wa ʿalā ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi wa sallim. Shaykh Hashim Al-Khatib taught us to place your hand on your right temple and with a submissive heart, recite this prayer 10 times. Healing will take place, God Almighty willing, and this is tried and tested. I do this and I do not need medicine. Some scholars have said As for their number, it is 100 times daily in the morning after the Fajr prayer, 100 times in the evening after the Asr prayer, and 100 times before the Maghrib prayer. It has a wondrous effect in treating heart disease and many other diseases. Whoever recites it 7 times over water [and drinks it] experiences astonishing results. It is tried and tested in treating all diseases, God Almighty willing. Following is another amazing account about the wondrous effects of this prayer. In the year 1966, Shaykh Sulayman Abdu Rabbihi al-Qalyubi, may Allah have mercy upon him said By the will of Allah, I was afflicted with a terrible neurological illness so I went to the doctors and they said to me “You only have 1% chance of survival!” I then left, performed wudhu and went to my place of seclusion. I persisted in my invoking salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ, saying Allāhumma ṣalli wa sallim wa bārik ʿalā Sayyidinā Muḥammadin ṭibbi l-qulūbi wa dawā’iha, wa ʿāfiyati l-abdāni wa shifā’iha, wa nūri l-abṣāri wa ḍiyā’iha.’ Before the time of Fajr, I felt the coolness of his [the Prophet’s ﷺ] blessed hand upon my head, and he ﷺ said to me, My son, say wa rūḥi l-arwāḥi wa sirri baqā’iha.’ Thereafter, I went to the doctors and they were astonished by my recovery. Amongst the doctors was a non-Muslim man.
